Its that time of the week again...yes..artist of the week.Minggu ni is the first time that a local Malaysian artist will be featured here.It is none other than Linda Nanuwil.Kepada yg xtau, Linda was runner up in the reality tv show Akademi Fantasia 2. Finally after a long wait, keluar jugak album dia. Album yang bertajuk Jika Kau Kekasih is already in stores now everywhere in Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak. So arini, I will take the oppurtunity to review the album in the most unbiased manner that I can...hehehe.  Track 1 - Jika Kau Kekasih (Ajai/Nurul) Slow ballad.Intro dia seperti lagu Berhenti Berharap..with piano and cello.Her vocal control and stamina was really challenged for this song especially for the chorus. Agak sukar nak curi nafas bila nyanyi chorus dia coz bnyk sukukata.This song also has a hint of Indonesian flavor but signature Ajai tu tetap ada. Anyway, Linda did great for this song eventhough it does not actually gel 100% with her voice. I predict this song to be the killer song for this album because of its commercial sound.Top quality song...it's that good that it may be Linda's big break to reach the coveted top 5 of carta Era.For me its just simply magnificent.Taste aku la...hehehe. Rating: 4.8/5 Track 2:Di Sini Malam Ini (Sharon Paul) The second single for this album. 100% pop latin. The first time I heard it, I felt that the spanish guitars' sound are magnificent...Catchy song and chorus.Hearing it makes me feel like dancing....Although this song was released as a single, it somehow lacks commercial value eventhough the melody is really catchy. Linda's vocal was great though... Rating: 3.8/5 Track 3: Muli Kampung (Atama/Amber Rose/John Gaisah) Pop dance.Don't know much about this song and its origin.All I know is that its a remake of a song from Sabah. For me this song is great!This is the song that suited Linda's voice the most.Memang rancak dan catchy. Lagu ni kalo kluar radio bleh jadi hit. Yep!Its that good...for a pop dance song that is.=) Thank you for remixing it wonderfully Atama.. Rating:4.3/5 Track 4: Kau Pergi Saja (Linda) Slow pop.Yes. Linda's own composition. For a novice composer, its a really wonderful song. Ala2 lagu Man Bai-Kau Ilhamku.Total acoustic guitar song. Siap ada bunyi bongo...Lagu ni antar lagu2 yang terbaik dalam album ni.Hope album lepas ni Linda akan mencipta lebih bnk lagu, coz hearing from this song, she really got talent in songwriting. Tabik spring kat Linda! Rating:4.5/5 Track 5:Ku Percaya (Helen Yap/Haslan Hussain) A fast number. Macam lagu Bukan Aku-Ziana Zain/Bebas Berlari-Nora.Ke 2-2 tu mmg lagu Helen Yap?Anyway...Lagu yang sesuai dengan Linda. Another song with guitars. Ada flavor rock sket2. Dengar lagu ni rasa macam terapung sbb ala2 lagu inspirasi gitu... Rating: 4/5 Track 6: Memori Rindu (Adnan Abu Hassan/Faris) Mid-tempo pop song.Sebelum ni terfikir yang lagu dari AAH xberapa sesuai untuk Linda. Tp utk lagu ni AAH lari sket daripada konsepnya yg biasa...For me its ok but fairly average.Suara Linda dlm lagu ni pun agak lain tone nya...Mcm hilang tone dia yg seperti Indonesian singers tu. Suara dia dengar seperti serak and husky (is that the same thing).Vocally, she is challenged sbb ada beberapa part tu note dia agak tinggi and she executed it wonderfully tanpa rasa bingit di telinga..ehem2..Lagu ni sebenarnya mcm utk album filler tp diselamatkan oleh chorusnya yg catchy banget. Thank god! Rating:3.5/5 Track 7: Aku Cinta Kamu (Ajai/Nurul) Ballad. Maybe most of u dah pernah dgr lagu ni coz dia nyanyi lagu ni dalam Konsert Akhir AF2. A good song coz its from Ajai. His signature is there (backing vocals from Ajai himself and electric guitar bridge). However, being a fan of Ajai's music for a number of years, I don't think that this is among the best song from Ajai. Maybe dia cipta dalam keadaan rushing atau amek dari dalam library. But still, its a commendable effort. Linda's vocal in this song is magnificent...another song that challenges her vocals.Aku masih lagi xbosan dgr lagu ni even sampai skang.. Rating: 4.2/5 Track 8: Kalaulah Saja Ku Boleh Terbang (Linda/Loloq) Lagu rock!Yezza...bleh banging bila dengar lagu ni.Satu lagi lagu ciptaan Linda tp kali ni lirik oleh Loloq. Aku sebenarnya kurang gemar dgn lirik2 ciptaan Loloq sbb mostly it sounds weird. Kali ni lirinya ok sketla dari lirik2 dia yg sebelum ni...blur abis aku baca.Suara Linda serak2 lg dalam ni. ...sesuailah coz lagu ni lagu rock.Teringat bintang pujaan atiku seperti Avril, Michelle Branch, Kelly Clarkson & Ella. Walaupun rock dia xberapa keras aku suka banget lagu ni. My taste.Hehehe. Rating:4.7/5 Overall verdict: 4/5 Aku dah dengar banyak album dari budak2 AF before this tapi kebanyakannya menghampakan coz obvious yg dorg rushing nak rakam album.I'm glad that Linda took her time in recording JKK. Hasilnya memang aku puas hati (from a LUV point of view).Utk album yang pertama she did a great job. Walaupun mungkin ada kelemahan di sana sini, I hope that she takes it as an experience.Nothing is perfect right?Satu lg yg memuaskan ati ku is the fact that album ni xde filler...Sume sedap didengar..Xcaya?Blilah & dgr..Tp diingatkan di sini, xsumer taste org sama. Ada yg suka ada yg x..Review di atas is from my point of view.If u feel that ur taste in music is the same as I am, by all means, buy Linda-Jika Kau Kekasih.=) |
